Alenco Communications, Inc. began in 1978 with 179 total access lines and only one paid employee.  Robby and Modeana Allen, along with their son, Ricky and his wife Debra, started the company after purchasing the Carlton and Alexander exchanges from J.W. Holmes.  

ACI has grown and currently owns 10 exchanges across Texas.  The exchanges are located in Knippa, Maryneal, Donie, McCaulley, Sylvester, and three other exchanges in south Texas near Laredo in an area that encompasses 4,000 square miles - which is ACI’s largest single serving area.  These 10 exchanges serve over 2,000 access lines with 28 employees.

ACI also owns Pathway Com-Tel.  The subsidiary is a competitive local exchange company that provides telephone, cable TV, and high speed Internet in 11 residential developments and several commercial businesses near the central office in Burleson, Texas.
